Design • Construction • Suspension • Adjustability

Some people say the world of wheelchair design has been stale for the last several decades, especially in the active outdoor rider market. In order to break from the everyday mold, Rogue Wheels together with Cervélo Cycles Inc. and aluminum fabricator Sapa Profiles Inc., designed a revolutionary wheelchair.

In early 2008, Christian Bagg and Jeff Adams at Rogue Wheels contacted Sapa looking for a cooperative value adding manufacturer for their new design. Rogue Wheels required a modular design with oval tube construction, improved suspension with a ½ pound custom shock and chair geometry to provide maximum adjustment. The heart of the Rogue Wheels philosophy is the idea of offering customers with a wide range of options. Mr. Adams also wanted to create a wheelchair that would allow as much adjustability as possible without compromising performance, strength or weight.

Rogue Wheels knew that when it came to aluminum frame technology and fabrication Sapa could provide the solution and the collaboration was underway. After just a few short months the final product was completed. The Marvel is an adjustable, full suspension, wheelchair based on the latest bicycle technology. With its well-built aluminum parts and three size options, it is infinitely adaptable to accommodate a riders body size, weight, and mass. In addition, the Marvel is equal to the equivalent titanium wheelchair offerings on the market today. Simply put, the Marvel is the pinnacle example of modular design.

Jeff Adams proclaimed, “the frame that I took was the same frame that literally came off the RESNA fatigue test machine, was checked for failures, got re-assembled with new components, and went to the airport straight to China. This is an incredible testament to the quality of work that Sapa completed, the faith I had in Christian’s design and Sapa’s competencies in fabrication."
