Sapa - a great place to work
The development of Sapa starts with the development of people. Our three strategic pillars are fundamental to this work: Envirnment, Health & Safety (EHS), Genesis and Customer Intimacy. Read some of our employees' thoughts on this below.
Sapa creates value - by protecting people.
How important is safety to you? And what is your location doing to improve safety?
| Krisztián Burai, Transportation Team Leader, Székesfehérvár, Hugary
"Environment, Health and Safety is very important and it is important for us to look after each other. We must continuously improve our safety knowledge and also check that everything is working well. Each month, everyone is trained on an EHS topic. We also have safety toolbox talks at the beginning of every shift. And we use our "contact programme" which gives us an overview about our knowledge, behaviour and personal improvement in safety." |

| Aaron Jones, Railing Cell Team Member, Magnolia, USA
"Safety to me is about more than just me. I have a son who depends on me and my co-workers are just as important. I believe that the main thing our area does to improve safety is being aware of problems and documenting them with IFEs (Injury Free Events). If you can spot a potential hazard and eliminate it before someone is injured, then we're moving in the right direction." |
 |
Jacko Knol, Machine Operator, Drunen, Netherlands
"Within my department, we spend a lot of time on safety. It is a very big issue also in meetings. I think it is very important to be aware of all risks and dangerous sitiuations, to stay sharp, and also take care of, and look after each other. Safety is a part of our daily routine. As a consequence of this we have succeeded in working without one lost work day for the last ten years!" |
 |
Edmund P Kelly, Maintenance Supervisor, Cheltenham, UK
"We have introduced many safety practices such as training in behaviour and responsibilities, working at height, fire fighting, lockout systems and working with gas to name only a few. Also we have installed countless safety devices and meanures to prevent accidents. Year on year there has been a significant reduction in the number of accidents and near misses in our department so the importance we put on safety is working." |

How do you use Sapa's operational system Genesis in your daily work?
Gerben Land, Paintline Operator, Hoogezand, the Netherlands
"I work on a paint line in a small group. When Genesis was first introduced people were somewhat negative to it. After Genesis training we have a new way of working together. We talk more about how we are doing, and how we are doing it. People are very positive to Genesis now. All the tools are in a special box, the floor is clean, and the work environment is much nicer." |
 |
Josefine Abel, Anodizing Operator, Vetlanda, Sweden
"It's only been a while since we started using Genesis. There is a lot of variation in the work that we do at the vertical anodizing line, and the whole team is looking at the production process, to see where we can make improvements. We receive excellent support from management. We've already invested in ergonomic chairs and work tables and we've started establishing routines for how we want things to work from now." |
 |
Francisco Valderas, Press Operator, Perfialsa, Spain
"In the past, you notified the appropriate people about a problem, but it took time for the problem to be solved. I like using Genesis because I have always tried to look for improvements by analyzing the real cause of the problem. The Daily Management Board makes us look for solutions to problems that arise. The Quality Information Panel also helps me to keep the customer in mind and improve every day." |
